POPEYE was first published in 1976 and is Japan's first full-fledged lifestyle magazine aimed at city boys.
It introduced a wide variety of topics to young people, including American West Coast culture, fashion, travel, sports, and music, and had a major influence on subsequent Japanese men's magazines.
Issue 40, published on October 10, 1978 , featured a special article called "BIKE IN TIME MACHINE," which combined science fiction imagination with motorcycle culture.
